THE CROSS STREET CLINIC
One thing we can assure you of is a warm and friendly welcome at the Cross Street Clinic and comfortable feet as you leave.
Welcome to the website for the Cross Street Clinic in Nelson, Lancashire where feet have been looked after since the late 1970’s and in the gentle, caring hands of Hilary Walker and associates since 1989.
On arrival at the Cross Street Clinic you will be greeted in reception by either Hilary Walker (Podiatrist), Christine Hopkins (Podiatrist) or our receptionist Wendy Ellis. If it is your first visit, our welcome will include registration forms to fill in; if it is a return visit, we have plenty of reading material and a warm waiting room to relax in. We like conversation whilst you wait, if Wendy isn’t too busy on the phone or looking after the Podiatrists!
If you are attending for the first time at the clinic we will assess and diagnose your foot problems and then commence an agreed treatment plan with you.
The cost of this first appointment is £50. If you are housebound, Christine can come to you and the cost of this first appointment is £60.
We will ask you to pay in advance to secure this first appointment. This can be done over the phone if you have a debit or credit card.
If you haven't seen us for over 7 years under General Data Protection Rules (GDPR) we will no longer hold a record so you will be seen as a new patient and will also be asked to pay in advance to secure this appointment.
If you require continued treatment with us be it Simply Toe Nails, routine footcare or more advanced procedures, then we will discuss the costs with you when we see you. If you would like to know further costs of any treatment before your appointment, follow the links to contact us or ring us.
We accept contactless Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay.
OUR QUALIFIED STAFF
Hilary and Christine are both registered with and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are members of the College of Podiatry. Hilary graduated from the Chelsea School of Chiropody in 1986 with a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and Christine graduated with a Degree in Podiatry in 2011 from Salford University.
Along with the change of name from Chiropody to Podiatry in the 1990’s, the qualification also changed from a 3 year Diploma to a 3 year Degree.
The terms Podiatry and Chiropody mean the same and are interchangeable, however, the term Podiatry is recognisable across Europe, America and Australia hence the increasing use of Podiatry in the UK. It is an offence for anyone to use the terms Chiropody/Chiropodist or Podiatry/Podiatrist unless registered with the HCPC.
